Donkey Hill Farm is situated at the foot of the Pyrenees Ranges near Avoca in central Victoria. Picturesque rows of grey-green olive trees and grape-laden vines are framed by the blue and green hues of Mount Warrenmang.
This part of Australia is steeped in history, from the traditional owners of the land, the Jajowurrong (or Djadja Wurrung) people, to the timber harvesters, slate and gold diggers and pastoralists that forged its more recent and colourful past.
Some of the best wool growing country in Australia can be found in the Pyrenees region. Now its wines - principally cabernet sauvignon, shiraz and full-bodied dry whites - are attracting attention, along with its temperate climate and idyllic rural beauty. Just perfect for growing the best olives.
